The project company “Floating windmills of Groix and Belle-Ile” was selected on July 22, 2016, via the call for projects EolFlO of the Environmental and energy control agency, for the development of pilot farms for floating wind turbines.

This project consists in the installation, between Groix and Belle-Ile, of 4 wind turbines especially designed for ocean conditions. Solutions are being investigated for connection of this clean energy to Lorient.

With this wind farm project, Lorient aligns with the priorities of the Atlantic Maritime Strategy to which the Conference of Atlantic Arc Cities contributes to since 2010.
