The next edition of the Atlantic Nautical Games will take place in Saint Nazaire (France) from August 26 to August 31, 2018. The agglomeration of Saint Nazaire (the CARENE), will host the 22nd edition of the games, held for the first time in 1995 in Crozon (France).
According to the mayor of Saint Nazaire and vice-president of the Atlantic Cities, David Samzum, this event is part of a local strategy “that wants to attract nautical tourism and find new opportunities for young people”. Directed by the Atlantic Committee of the Nautical Sports, this year the competition also has the support of the CROS Pays de Loire, the department of Loire Atlantique and the Pays de Loire region.
The sports summoned in 2018 are: canoeing, swimming with fins, swimming in open water, rowing, sailing, surfing and sports’ rescue. Teams interested in participating must pre-register in this LINK.
In addition to the members of the Atlantic Urban Forum and the Atlantic cities in general, Saint Nazaire has invited its twin cities to participate: Avilés (Spain), Sunderland (United Kingdom) and Saarlouis (Germany).
The Conference of Atlantic Arc Cities, through its Commission Ocean and Blue Growth, supports the promotion and organization of the Atlantic Nautical Games.
