On July 5, Viana do Castelo, president of the Atlantic Cities, joined the Interregional Group on the Future of the Automobile Industry of the Committee of the Regions in Brussels. This group was founded in 2009 to address the problems affecting the automotive industry.

The objective of the CDR Automotive Intergroup Meeting has now evolved to defend the interests of the territories with a major automotive industry and find common solutions to the challenges it faces.

The group met in Brussels to discuss the topics of automotive clusters, ongoing research on decarbonization and automation of cars. Viana do Castelo, Atlantic City of the Year 2018, will welcome them in a few weeks; to contribute with its good practices to a better competitiveness and the use in the automotive industry and of a greater participation of the universities in the future solutions of design.
