The exhibition, promoted by the Gipuzkoa Regional Government and organized by FICOBA, will be held on November 27 and 28 for professionals and companies from the electromobility and energy storage area, with 1500 sector professionals expected to attend.

On November 27 and 28, Gipuzkoa is set to host the Go Mobility show, Southern Europe’s first industrial exhibition on sustainable mobility, geared to professionals and companies from the electromobility and energy storage sector. The Ficoba trade fair centre will be the venue for the Go Mobility – Basque Sustainable Mobility Industry Exhibition, which is promoted by the Gipuzkoa Regional Government’s Department of Economic Promotion, Rural Environment and Territorial Balance.

The trade fair will fill Ficoba’s three pavilions, with a total of 5000 m2 of exhibition space, plus a further 7000 m2 outside the centre. Around 1,500 top-level professionals – managers and purchasing officers – are expected to come to the event, attending not only the exhibition area where the sector’s latest innovations will be on display but also a variety of conferences and debates, a vehicle testing area, matchmaking sessions, technical visits to companies and the Go Mobility Awards. Also, with the aim of boosting sales during the event, Go Mobility will be running a programme so that 50-100 guest buyers from Spain and abroad can also take part.

The Go Mobility – Basque Sustainable Mobility Industry Exhibition forms part of Gipuzkoa’s Strategy for Industrial Development in Electric Mobility, created with the involvement of more than 40 agents, companies, technology centres and institutions working in the field of mobility and energy and with three strategic axes focusing on boosting industrial and technological development, developing the necessary infrastructures and skills to meet new needs and positioning the local area in the electric mobility and energy storage sector.

“It will be a great opportunity for the European firms to showcase their advances and innovations in sustainable mobility and energy storage to the main operators, purchasers and decision-makers for cities, companies and services providers that are seeking innovative sustainable mobility solutions”, says the Economic Promotion delegate Ainhoa Aizpuru. The exhibition aspires to bring together sustainable and smart mobility value chain players, while serving as a meeting point for the main public and private actors in this field. Also, as Ms. Aizpuru has highlighted, Go Mobility will serve to position Gipuzkoa and its industry in the field of sustainable mobility and energy storage, an environment with tremendous potential.
“The way we move around our towns and neighbourhoods is changing. Our region and our local industry have all the necessary features for us to capture the opportunities provided by the deployment of sustainable electric mobility and energy storage. It’s a chance we should make the most of, and it may also draw the attention of European institutions and enterprises”, she reflects.

Gipuzkoa has globally relevant motivating enterprises and cutting-edge technology and research centres, together with associations and entities working to drive industry, research and training in systems and technologies. Some examples of this are Irizar’s recently opened factory in Aduna for the exclusive manufacture of electric buses, CAF’s major new production of hybrid and electric buses through its subsidiary company Vectia and the partnership between Cidetec and Petronor to boost electric battery research.

Gipuzkoa Regional Government has agreed on a strategy with actors and businesses in this area to position the region in the electromobility and energy storage sector, which is the theme of the Go Mobility exhibition. It is also designing a benchmark centre to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship in this area and developing new programmes and policies within the framework of the Etorkizuna Eraikiz programme. “We need to work together to strengthen and increase this commitment, to generate new business and employment and to make Gipuzkoa a development hub for this sector in the future”, the delegate for Economic Promotion, Rural Environment and Territorial Balance declares.
