Viana do Castelo has two electric buses that have transported almost half a million passengers in 13 years of activity. The two vehicles make trips through the historic center of the city. This type of transport is the most appropriate for use in urban centers, due to its reliability and low operating costs.
The Caramuru and the Himalayas, painted in the colors of Viana do Castelo, yellow and black, work from Monday to Friday, from 9.30 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 6.30 pm. In 2010 the bus doubled its circuit, through the main arteries of the city.
These electric buses not only are a benefit for the environment, but also facilitate the mobility of older people in the city, so it is a very advantageous alternative.
