Among the numerous objectives of the European Project Imagina Atlantica stands the upgrading of the cultural and historical heritage of the Atlantic Arc. At a time when Europe is facing crisis, supporting innovation remains one of the key to boost the economy. New technologies are nowadays a component of our daily life. This booming sector is adapting itself to our habits in terms of communication, information and… tourism!
The French city of Angoulême, leader of the Imagina Atlantica project, launched the J’aime Angoulême application, an innovative way to discover the city. Users of J’aime Angoulême can now take a tour of the city and visit more than 120 points of interests guided by a smartphone. Several walking routes are suggested and the app adapts the tour according to your time and wishes. Visitors can try the treasure hunt going from Saint-Pierre Cathedral to the Museum of Comics and through the Green Garden or the numerous painted walls of the city. The point is to make you discover Angoulême in a fun and interactive way.
Winner of the contest « Creative and Innovative Heritage Enhancement », J’aime Angoulême is definitely a success in terms of tourism, creativity and promotion of the heritage.
The same kind of app is expected to be launched in Ribeira Sacra (Spain) next year.
