Bristolians will go to the polls on May 3, to decide whether the current council system is replaced with a directly elected mayor. At the moment the council leader is elected by the political party in charge, currently the Liberal Democrats.
But there has been uncertainty over exactly what the elected mayor would be able to do if Bristol says yes. A number of speakers raised concerns about the lack of information on the position during a Bristol University organised debate last month.
