2012 General Assembly: 29th October

The 2012 General Assembly of the Conference of Atlantic Arc Cities will be hosted this year by Brest Métropole Océane on 29th October. This General Assembly will take place within a hinge period for the Atlantic region, the European cohesion policy concerning the role of cities in the influence and the development of the Atlantic Arc in the European Union.
In this context, so as to promote an integrated territorial approach and a multi-level governance, the General Assembly of the CAAC will be the venue for Atlantic cities to reaffirm their determination in strengthening the urban dimension of the cohesion policy and the Atlantic Strategy.

At the same time, thanks to the mobilization of Atlantic stakeholders and European institutions a macroregional strategy for the Atlantic region should be implemented for the period 2014-2020. In this framework, the Atlantic Forum, which will be hold in Brest at the same moment, represents a major opportunity for the territories and cities to fully participate at the design, the implementation and the evaluation of flagship projects which constitute a core issue for the Atlantic Strategy.  Therefore, the General Assembly of the CAAC will be an opportunity to grab the attention of European and national policymakers on the thematic objectives, the land-sea interface and the added value of city-networks to set-up a final Action Plan by the spring of 2013.  The General Assembly will also be an opportunity to expose the work and the perspectives of the CAAC Thematic Commissions, the advancement of its Strategic Plan and the elections to the Executive Bureau.
