European Association for the promotion of sustainable and responsible fisheries

The first two French fishing ports, Boulogne and Lorient are launching  BLUE FISH, a new European association for the promotion of sustainable and responsible fisheries. BLUE FISH brings together all stakeholders in the sector in Europe: workers, business, education and research organizations, NGOs, associations and port management structures and public institutions.

The association, founded on March 8,  has elected its president and is already in working order. Olivier Le Nézet , president of BLUE FISH and Claude Allan , Vice President, have presented the objectives of the association: pooling knowledge, promoting good practices and the wide variety of fishing techniques, communicating, participating in the development of the common fisheries policy and contributing to the development of the fisheries sector and the seafood companies.

In April 23, the first action of BLUE FISH involved deep-sea fishing with the presentation at the European Parliament of the first component of the European study: « characterization of deep-sea fishing economy ».
