A Coruña, new president of Atlantic Arc Cities

The Mayor of A Coruña, Carlos Negreira, was elected president of the Conference of Atlantic Arc Cities after presenting the candidacy of the city as part of the XIV General Assembly held in Saint Nazaire (France).

The aim of the candidacy of the Galician city is to reinforce economic cohesion in the Atlantic Area, promoting transnational and interregional cooperation in order to achieve sustainable, harmonious and balanced development within Europe, said the new president, who also explained that the mission of this application is to create a supportive framework and synergies from the local environment for the development of all territories present in this network made in 2000 and that currently represents more than 100 local authorities and 7 million inhabitants of the Atlantic façade.

In his speech on July 4, describing Atlantic Cities as engines of European development, CAAC president highlighted the key role played by cities in today’s society and the current need to have leadership, vision and project to ensure their welfare.
