This Wednesday, October 28 at the Forum of the Atlantic Corridor in Bordeaux, Alain Vidalies, Secretary of State for Transport in France, met with Julio Gómez-Pomar, Spanish Secretary of State for Transport and Carlo Secchi, Coordinator European for Atlantic Corridor.
This appointment has allowed to announce the relaunch by France and Spain of the Atlantic rail motorway project, which must fully integrate into a European dimension and the dynamics of the Atlantic Corridor. As part of this program, it should be noted the launch by both countries in 2016 of a call for expressions of interest from players for a rail motorway of the Atlantic axis. It will allow to concretely identify their mobilization for such a service and the conditions under which it could operate.
“With this Franco-Spanish dynamic come true through this call for expressions of interest in 2016, it is the revival of the Atlantic rail motorway project that is now engaged,” said Alain Vidalies. Meanwhile, recognizing the need to improve intercity contactability, Julio Gomez Pomar noted that the infrastructure will alllow “both better integration in Europe and improving connectivity between the cities of the Atlantic Arc and with the rest of Europe.”
