Brest, Atlantic City of the year 2014

This post is also available in: Español (Spanish) Français (French) Português (Portuguese (Portugal))

The Atlantic City of the Year is an acknowledgement of the efforts of Atlantic Arc Cities to find appropriate sustainable development models regarding their geographical identity. Thus, Brest Metropole, counting 212 891 inhabitants and 8 municipalities, was rewarded of all its efforts by becoming ‘The Atlantic City of the year 2014’.

Brest Métropole has been able to rely on the urban environmental excellence (the new tramway, the Climate Plan, being the “Capital of the Marine and Coastal Biodiversity”), an innovative economic growth (its maritime development institute), its social policy (facilitated access to new technologies and culture) and her Atlantic and Maritime identity (Chairman of CAAC Sustainable Development Commission, representing the network in the Atlantic Forum, organizer of a Forum and a General Assembly…).

Active on many international and European networks, Brest Metropole symbolizes the spirit of the Atlantic cities working today to shape tomorrow the future of Europe. Similarly, the triumph of Brest has been relayed in the mainstream French media.

Do you like challenges? This example inspires you? Then, participate in the new edition of the “Atlantic City of the year 2017”!
