Announced in 8th General Conference of Mayors for Peace, in the Japanese city of Hiroshima, Donostia will host the international conference “Building Peace from the Local Level”, on 10 and 11 October at the House of Peace and Human Rights and the Kursaal.
This conference is an institutional initiative aimed at mayors and local agencies around the world who have made or are making contributions to conflict resolution. Besides the opening act, with the participation of different personalities, the participants will meet in four groups for the duration of the conference, to work on the following topics:
Cities, conflict and peace processes: perspectives of mayors of cities that are currently involved in conflict transformation processes.
Cities and challenges after the resolution of the conflict: to share experiences of people who have advanced in conflict resolution and to address the new challenges they are facing.
Cities and contribution to world peace: perspectives of mayors of cities that have promoted opportunities and initiatives for progress in the resolution of conflicts.
Working from the local: the objective is to analyze the work that can be done from the local level for national dialogue and reconciliation.
