After a year and a half of cooperation, the site partners share, the first results of the project on smart ticketing issues. The SITE project was officially launched with a Kick-Off meeting and technical workshop on innovative fare structures development in Nantes in March 2012.
During this first workshop, SEMITAN (transport operator for the city of Nantes, France) acting as technical coordinator of the project, presented the preliminary analysis of each SITE city fare system. At transnational level, this allowed partners to share experience and gain knowledge about the evolution of each partner’s fare system before and after the introduction or upgrading of the smart ticketing system.
The main conclusion of this thorough analysis of existing public transport fare structures in SITE cities was a high variability from one city to another (some cities having or not “a flat fare”, the multimodality offer differing significantly from one city to another, etc.).
