Gipuzkoa, pioneer in the institutional response against gender violence

This post is also available in: Español (Spanish) Français (French) Português (Portuguese (Portugal))

Last November the Diputación Foral de Gipuzkoa presented the first Institutional Protocol of Public Response in front of the Violence against the women of Gipuzkoa. A standardized and pioneering protocol that appears with the will to offer a solid frame of response in face of the cases of violence against the women.

Besides a marked accent in the mobilization, this Protocol gathers also several basic principles, as are the priority attention to the victims, to offer a rapid, coordinated and effective response, to show the rejection to the aggressors, the obligation to contrast the information to avoid the social alarm and to stimulate the preventive action reinforcing the awareness. The Protocol also establishes different degrees of sexist aggressions and consequently different differentiated stages of response.

The Protocol is conceived as a shared tool between different institutions and the whole society and, therefore, it interpellate  both the Diputación Foral de Gipuzkoa itself and all citizens.

From the General Secretariat of the Atlantic Cities we collect initiatives at local level that could be good practices to European level, as this Protocol. If you know others, do not hesitate to comment.
