Gijón receives an award for smart governance

Gijón has won a EUROCITIES award in the category “Smart Governance” with its citizen card, which recognizes the benefits of this medium at European level. These awards recognize the outstanding achievements carried out by members of the network in practices that improve the quality of life of citizens.

Gijón is a member of Eurocities and of the Conference of Atlantic Arc Cities since 2000 and actively participates in forums and working groups of the two networks. Also, the city has led several European funded projects related to members and currently holds the position of vice president of the CAAC.

On the other hand, Gijón has also hosted meetings of several European networks or EU institutions, demonstrating an active and committed participation in Europe.

This award represents the consolidation of the European strategy carried out by the department of European Affairs of the City of Gijón for years.
