Donostia – San Sebastián awarded with the Europe Prize 2019

The city of Donostia – San Sebastian, member of Atlantic Cities and headquarters of the General Assembly of the association with the Diputación de Gipuzkoa in 2018, has been awarded with the Europe prize 2019, granted by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe each year to a city that stands out for its projection of the European values.

The city was chosen on April 11 for its commitment to spreading the values ​​of European construction and for its solidarity. Proof of this is the annual celebration of the European Day that Donostia – San Sebastián has been doing since 1999 and the implementation of various charitable contributions for countries in conflict.

Previously, the city has also received other distinctions such as  the European Capital of Culture in 2016 and the Badge of honor in 2009.

One of the main activities of cooperation between Atlantic Cities and Donostia – San Sebastián is the Ecoris3 project, which focuses on the transfer of innovation and knowledge produced by research centers, technology organizations and higher education, for local and regional companies

Donostia – San Sebastián is the city leader of the project that also has the participation of the city of Cork. Atlantic Cities does the political and technical monitoring of the project to achieve greater visibility and impact.
