After hosting the World Sailing championship in 2014 the Atlantic city of Santander joins the defence and implementation of a sustainable nautical activity. So,the regatta “City of Santander» will be held from the 23rd to 26th of July; while from September 1st to the 6th the Cantabrian town will host the International Sailing Week. It is expected that these events will involve more than 340 boats and 800 people. The city is exploring ways to recover the Atlantic connections, in order to recuperate the island of White and Brittany as destinations for competition in 2016.
As demonstrated by these events, the Atlantic cities defend that the attractiveness of their territories must rely on their cultural identity and the promotion of their heritage. Thus both sustainable tourism and nautical activities represent a real added value for the Atlantic.
