Atlantic cities analyze in Donostia their role in innovation

The meeting takes place in the House of Talent in Aiete and it will be attended by representatives of the cities of Coimbra (Portugal), Dos Hermanas, Seville, Gijón and Avilés (Spain), Lorient, Vannes and Brest (France), Cardiff (Wales) Donegal (Ireland). The initiative, leaded by Fomento de San Sebastián, is part of the second transnational meeting of the Project Know Cities, funded by ERDF within the Atlantic Area Programme. The meeting between these cities will introduce comparative studies of diagnostic tests that have been carried out in each of the territories in relation to economy and growth. The representatives of the different locations will make up a roundtable with experts in the knowledge economy and other factors that favor the transformation of innovation into economic growth.

The meeting will be chaired by the director of Fomento de San Sebastián, Euken Sese, and titled: Success Factors in Knowledge Economy in the medium and small cities. Following the introduction of the moderator, Willem Van, Professor at University of Amsterdam, will intervene to speak on the framework for the knowledge economy in the medium and small cities.

Subsequently, the researcher Tamyko Ysa will speak about the importance of networking and sponsorship. Finally, a representative of the Basque Institute of Competitiveness, Orkestra, will explain the factors that increase innovation in cities. Following the presentations there will be a discussion and conclusions.
