City twinning on climate change adaptation

Mayors Adapt – the Covenant of Mayors initiative on Adaptation to Climate Change – launches a series of city twinning activities, and is calling for cities to participate.

The twinning programme aims to accelerate local capacity building and exchange of good practices. Spaces are available to connect 10 cities that are starting their adaptation work with 10 mentor municipalities that have already developed successful adaptation strategies. Each learning municipality will travel to the mentor city to understand how the latter tackled the climate-related issues.

The call for applications runs until 3 August 2015, with the twinning activities foreseen to be implemented between autumn 2015 and autumn 2016. Participation is open to all Mayors Adapt signatories.

Mayors Adapt is an EU-wide initiative to engage and support cities in adapting to climate change. Mayors Adapt inspires local authorities to make a voluntary commitment to implement urban adaptation plans, showcases their activities and supports them in developing integrated strategies for concrete actions.
