29 October 2015 – Brest, France. Brest Métropole leads the Commission for Sustainable Development and Blue Growth of the Atlantic Cities.
The Atlantic Action Plan aims to revitalise the marine and maritime economy in the Atlantic Ocean area. It shows how the EU’s Atlantic Member States, their regions and the Commission can help create sustainable growth in coastal regions and drive forward the “blue economy” while preserving the environmental and ecological stability of the Atlantic Ocean.
As part of the implementation of the Atlantic Action Plan, the European Commission invites stakeholders to share their practical knowledge and ideas at the Atlantic Stakeholder Platform conference. The stakeholder platform is an annual event and the central hub for stakeholders of the Atlantic Strategy to meet, greet, seek ways of cooperation, share information and secure funding.
The 2nd Atlantic Stakeholder Platform conference, to be held on 29 October 2015 in Brest, will bring relevant stakeholders together and through eight stakeholder-led workshops and match-making activities will enable the identification of suitable cooperation opportunities. Project ideas will be sought, discussed and potentially developed with assistance from the Support team for the Atlantic Action Plan.
The eight workshops will focus on topics related to Priority 2 of the Atlantic Action Plan, notably in the areas of:
- maritime safety and security;
- climate change;
- sustainable management of marine resources; and
- the exploitation of renewable energy potential of the Atlantic area’s marine and coastal environment.
