Cities Project. Creative Industries In Traditional Intercultural Spaces

CITIES Project is a joined initiative generated by 9 partners from 6 different European countries: Lithuania, Italy, Portugal, Hungary, Slovenia, and Spain. Klaipeda City Municipality as the main project initiator performed the Lead Partner role. INTERREG IV C Programme is a Priority 1, sub-theme: entrepreneurship and SMEs.
From the beginning of the Project, on October 2008, to the end, September 2011 CITIES project focuses on promotion of entrepreneurship on creative and cultural sectors through interregional cooperation, including the development and introduction of new strategies. The establishment of creative network with the use of instruments and tools at regional or local level provides support for the entrepreneurship in creative and cultural industries.
Regarding the Project Results. Project Communication and Dissemination includes the Project website design and maintenance, Newsletters containing the carried out and planned activities, leaflets, publications and media.
Concerning the Exchange of Experiences. It was completed through organization and participation in Workshops, Study visits, Seminars, Staff exchanges and Interregional Conferences.13 Best Practices were identified within the Creative and Cultural Industries and they were collected in CITIES Project Best Practice Guide/ Final Report.
Related to Pilot Actions Implementation and Evaluation. These pilot actions are taking place in Modena, Italy and Celje, Slovenia by a specific methodology.

During June 14 and 15, 2011 the Final Conference of CITIES Project:” Creativity and Partnership for Cities´ Urban Regeneration “took place in Klaipeda, Lithuania.
Project partners made a statement of the creative industries in their cities and the achievements of the project. Various experts spoke about creative industries at European level, as Ele-Mall Vainomäe, Taillin Creative Incubator (Estonia); Neil McInroy, Centre for Local Economy Strategies (CLES), Manchester (UK) and Andrew Missingham, CITIES Project Creative Expert. Finally, there was a conference-debate with all the participants at the event.
