Establishing a good governance of port waters: Portonovo and Cherbourg

Portonovo is a project whose objective is to define a methodology for the management of the quality of water in port areas along the Atlantic Arc. Within the partnership, the Urban Community of Cherbourg is in charge of the definition of the governance. Its objective is to identify and put into perspective the regulations and methods used by European ports to supervise and manage the quality of its waters.

This Fall, with the support of the CAAC, Cherbourg distributed a questionnaire to measure the different factors in the management of port waters, such as the importance of the port, its internal organisation, the different types of port authorities, quality methods, etc… The results of this survey, as well as other points of view and best practices at local,
regional, national and European level will be presented in Cherbourg on 10 February.
