The construction of the ship MSC Europa, therefore completion is scheduled for 2022, benefits from a major innovation in the field: a new propulsion system.
The engine will no longer release nitrogen, sulfur oxide or fine particles, since the use of liquid natural gas (LNG) associated with a fuel cell, reduces the engine’s greenhouse gas emissions by almost 30% compared to a conventional engine.
The Chantiers de l’Atlantique and the shipowner MSC Cruises are therefore teaming up to give life to an innovative project, which aims to pave the way for environmentally friendly technologies.
