Between June 7th and 20th, 2018, the beach of Cabedelo, in Viana do Castelo, hosted the Viana World Cup, two important events in the world of sports. The beach of Cabedelo has excellent conditions for the practice of kitesurfing and windsurfing and for two weeks Viana brought together the best world athletes of the two modalities and lovers of these sports were able to enjoy high-level competitions.
This year the championship had 88 participants from 30 different nationalities. The GKA Kitesurf World Tour took place between June 07th and 12th and the PWA Windsurf World Cup between the 13th and the 20th of the same month, at Cabedelo Beach. Parallel to the two events, a series of recreational and social initiatives were developed, involving various structures and places in the city.
Viana do Castelo welcomed, for the first time, an international adapted surfing event, an event that took place in the High Performance Center (CAR) of Surf. This meeting counted with the participation of four European teams from Portugal, Spain, Italy, and France, and it served to select the athletes that will represent Portugal in the National Selection of Adapted Surf 2018
