Urban Mobility and Youth are key assets of the Atlantic Cities’ Urban Strategy towards sustainable development within the Atlantic Arc.

On 5th December 2019, Atlantic Cities together with European institutions and regional and local representatives as well as youth from Generation Z took part at the “Generation Z and Zero Emission Transport” conference at the Benelux house in Brussels.

Deputy Director General for Climate Action at the European Commission, Clara de la Torre, pointed out the European Union Green Deal is part of EU growth strategy. Thus, “supporting research and innovation are key to reach optimate neutral economy by 2050”.

This represents the core of our EURE project, funded by Interreg Europe programme, within which Atlantic Cities is working on efficiency energy and energy savings within the Atlantic Arc.

Youth involvement in the design of the future policies, as they represent the future of our territories is also paramount. To count with generation Z could offer our cities a new approach to better understand citizens’ needs at the time they face the sustainability challenge.

This is the main philosophy behind our AYCH – Atlantic Youth Creative Hubs project, a project funded by Interreg Atlantic Area programme, which main aim is to engage youth through non formal education to develop sustainable local solutions.
