On 14 November 2024, A Coruña kicked off its presidency of Atlantic Cities with a work meeting attended by representatives of its member cities. The meeting was hosted by the mayoress, Inés Rey, which marked the handover of the presidency of the network, after the tenure of Eneko Goia Laso, mayor of Donostia / San Sebastián. Both explained the importance of giving continuity to the working groups of the network.
The main axes of the 2025 Action Plan concern increased city-to-city cooperation, the implementation of a pact for the ocean at European level and the improvement of multilevel governance for better coordination between the Atlantic area stakeholders, whether they are local authorities, research centres, non-profit organisations or the private sector.
