Following its launch, the European Project ecoRIS3 has started its exchanges of experiences in Vila Nova de Famalicão (Portugal) on June 28 and 29.

Partners and stakeholders of each of their territory therefore shared in Portugal best practices on the public sector as creator of ecosystems for innovation and smart specialisation strategy. Two study visits were also held. The first in a technological centre specialized in textile sector in Vila Nova de Famalicão and the second in an incubator in the context of development of start-ups in the creative sector.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the following factors have been high-lighted as decisive for the sustainability of ecosystems of innovation: the involvement of all every sector (private, public, civil society), long-term political strategies for innovation at the regional level and sustainability of investments.

The next Exchange of experiences will be held in Cork in October-November 2017.
